About Casina.

Casina Decision Systems is a small operating company that builds research-grounded platforms for the choices that shape lives — money, transitions, and the everyday decisions in between.

Why Casina exists

Most online tools that help people make decisions about money, life events, and behavior are built for engagement rather than accuracy. They optimize for clicks, sponsored placements, and time-on-page — not for whether the user walks away with a clearer answer.

Casina exists to do the opposite. We build tools that model outcomes honestly, cite their sources, and disappear when the user has what they need. The platforms are independent in voice and audience, but bound by a common ethic: that decisions deserve evidence, and that the hardest moments deserve the best thinking.

The company

Casina Decision Systems LLC is an Ohio limited liability company, headquartered in Canton, Ohio. We operate three consumer platforms — FinCalcs, PivotReset, and LifeByLogic — each focused on a different category of real-life decisions.

Casina is privately held. The company sets cross-platform standards for methodology, sourcing, and editorial integrity. Each platform maintains its own voice, audience, and editorial team.

Founder

Abiot Y. Derbie, PhD

Founder

Abiot is a data scientist whose work spans predictive modeling, large-scale data pipeline engineering, and analytics on complex, multi-source datasets. He holds a PhD in Neuroscience from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, with a Bachelor's and Master's in Psychology.

His research and engineering work focuses on building predictive models that extract meaningful patterns from large numbers of variables to inform real-world outcomes. His background in psychology informs Casina's interest in behavioral decision-making — understanding why people make the choices they do under stress, how cognitive biases shape decisions in high-stakes moments, and how better tools can help people see past those biases.

Casina was founded on the premise that the same rigor used in scientific research should apply to consumer decision tools. Every figure traces to a primary source. Every calculation is mathematically validated. Every recommendation is descriptive — modeling what the data shows — rather than prescriptive.

How we work

Three principles bind every Casina platform:

Primary sources, named. Every figure traces to a citable source — government data, peer-reviewed research, direct observation. We don't repackage what other sites published. When a primary source isn't available, we say so.

Editorial independence. Some of our platforms accept advertising or affiliate revenue. None of our calculators, content, or recommendations are influenced by who pays us. Sponsored placements, where they exist, are marked clearly.

Descriptive, not prescriptive. Our tools model outcomes. They don't tell users what to do. The line between "here's what the data shows" and "here's what you should do" is the difference between a tool and a sales pitch.
